PHOTOS: A mutton bustin’ wipeout at Rodeo in the Rockies

Rodeo in the Rockies took over Flying Heels Arena in Granby on Aug. 30 and 31 for a wild, Western show of tie-down roping, three-barrel racing, bull riding and more.

While the professional rodeo atheletes were certainly impressive, it was the youngsters who stole the hearts of the audience.

Mutton busting is a rodeo event where young children ride on the back of a sheep for as long as they can as it runs around the arena, similar to bull and bronc riders.

When the kids took over for primetime mutton busting, the wipeouts had the crowd in stitches. Check out this play-by-play of one young competitor just trying to hold on.
