PHOTOS: Skiing legend Klaus Obermeyer celebrates 106 years young

Skiing icon Klaus Obermeyer celebrated his 106th birthday on Tuesday with a party inside the Obermeyer headquarters at the Aspen Airport Business Center.
Born on Dec. 2, 1919, in Bavaria’s Oberstaufen, Germany, Obermeyer first came to Aspen in the 1940s. In 1947, he launched Sport Obermeyer, and in 1961, he opened its first warehouse in Aspen. Over the years, he became an industry pioneer when it comes to winter and skiing clothing.
Notable locals who stopped by to wish Obermeyer well on Tuesday included Aspen Skiing Company CEO Geoff Buchheister and businessman Jeff Gorsuch, among others.
