Jon Peacock has been selected to serve as town manager of Winter Park, starting Jan 12, according to a press release from the town.

Before accepting the position, he was employed as the county manager in Pitkin County, Colo. He has worked in local government for over 25 years, including three years as assistant county administrator and five years as county administrator in Mesa County.

Peacock was one of four finalists for the position, announced in October. His selection marks the end of a nationwide search for Kieth Riesberg’s replacement. Riesberg announced his resignation on July 12, and his last day as town manager was Sept. 12. While the search for a permanent replacement was underway, the town appointed Sarah Ott as interim town manager.

As Pitkin County’s manager, Peacock led capital projects, advanced affordable housing, prioritized climate initiatives and secured a $1 billion airport lease agreement that reinvested funds into community priorities, according to the release. Winter Park town officials said he brings proven experience in resort and mountain communities.

“Jon is the exact right fit for this moment in Winter Park’s evolution,” Winter Park Mayor Nick Kutrumbos said in the release. “His deep experience in managing resort communities, guiding complex initiatives, and bringing people together will help us carry forward the bold vision our town is pursuing. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”

Peacock accepted the role and his contract will be approved by the town council at their next meeting on Nov. 4. His salary will be $255,000, according to the contract. His salary in 2024 as Pitkin County manager was $278,924, according to a public county notice.

“I’m honored and excited to join the Town of Winter Park at such a dynamic time,” Peacock said in the release.
