Authorities respond to small wildfire near Stillwater Campground

Grand Lake Fire, Grand Fire Protection District No. 1, Grand County Sheriff’s Office and Grand County Colorado EMS are on scene of a small wildland fire along the south side of County Road 41 across from Stillwater Campground near Grand Lake, the Sheriff’s Office reported around 4:15 p.m. on March 13.
Fire crews are actively working on fire suppression and the area is surrounded by decent snow fall. Deputies have been in contact with any nearby residences that may be impacted and there are no evacuations at this time. County Road 41 is closed in both directions to allow firefighters and apparatus to work safely on the roadway.
By 5:30 p.m., firefighters were able to extinguish and mop up the fire and will be on scene a little longer. No structures were threatened and County Road 41 is back open in both directions.
