On Wednesday, Aug. 13, asphalt paving began on the two-mile stretch of highway between the Cottonwood Pass Road and County Road 53, Mile Points 217 to 219 on US 40 between Granby and Tabernash, according to a press release by Colorado Department of Transportation.

The current traffic pattern will remain in place this week. During the week of August 18, a traffic switch will occur as paving moves to the eastbound side of the highway. Traffic lanes will be shifted from their current pattern, but two-way traffic with one lane open in either direction will continue.

When paving is occurring adjacent to roads or driveways in this area, residents can anticipate brief closures of 20 to 30 minutes to access the highway. Residents are encouraged to plan and allow extra time when leaving home, or take alternate routes if possible.
