On Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Colorado Congressman Joe Neguse will join community leaders and residents at the Grand Lake Community House for a public panel reflecting on the East Troublesome Fire’s impact and the county’s ongoing recovery.

Hosted by KFFR 88.3 FM and the Grand County Wildfire Council, the event commemorates the five-year anniversary of the devastating wildfire and will be broadcast live online and on local radio. The panel will feature local officials and fire experts discussing post-fire efforts to improve wildfire mitigation, preparedness and community resilience.

“This event is about progress — how far we’ve come and what still lies ahead.” Jessica Rahn, executive director of the Grand County Wildfire Council, said.

Neguse will be joined by a range of Grand County panelists including Ms. Rahn, Director of Emergency Management Services Alexis Kimbrough, Commissioner Merrit Linke, Assistant Fire Chief Ron Thurston, Fire Chief Seth St. Germaine and Ryan McNertney of Colorado State Forest Service.

Audience questions will be welcomed to close the evening’s conversation.

“This is a collaborative conversation about accountability and recovery,” said Ryan Wilson, executive director of Fraser Valley Community Media. “The Grand County Wildfire Council has been instrumental in helping our community take tangible action on mitigation and education, and KFFR is proud to amplify that work.”
