YMCA of the Rockies announced the reopening of the Snow Mountain Ranch indoor pool after a comprehensive renovation that began on Dec. 2, according to a Feb. 10 press release.

The pool was temporarily closed beginning in August after the existing filtration system reached the end of its functional lifespan. The renovation, completed by Sunbelt Pools, wrapped up on Jan. 10, according to the release.

“This project represents a significant investment in the long-term performance and sustainability of the Snow Mountain Ranch pool,” Michael Ohl, General Manager at Snow Mountain Ranch, said in the release. “While the closure was difficult, it allowed us to make essential improvements that will benefit our guests, staff, and community for years to come.”

A new mechanical room, made possible through a $500,000 gift from an anonymous donor, and a high-efficiency regenerative media filtration system were part of the renovation. The upgraded system uses a smaller environmental footprint, reducing water and chemical usage while improving air quality and lowering heating demands, the release stated.

Additionally, renovators installed new main drains, added a higher-accessibility ADA pool lift chair, expanded the pool deck space and updated lane ropes. To comply with aquatic safety standards, the pool slide and climbing wall were removed.

Pool hours can be found on snowmountainranch.org or by contacting the YMCA’s aquatics department at 970-887-2152 ext. 4126.
