Traffic updates: CDOT says expect safety closures on I-70

12:35 p.m. — Drivers should be aware that high winds could cause hazardous driving conditions throughout the day with gusts up to 31 mph. The worst conditions will be over the high mountain passes.

10:46 a.m. — Eastbound Interstate 70 has reopened at Vail Pass, according to CDOT.

9:56 a.m. — US Highway 40 is open in both directions between CR20 (near Rabbit Ears Pass) and 17th Street (Kremmling). Icy and snow packed conditions may exist. Slower speeds advised.

9:42 a.m. — CDOT says safety closures are likely on Interstate 70 today between Empire Junction and Dotsero due to extreme winter driving conditions. Blowing snow and strong winds, including gusts up to 40 mph, are reducing visibility to 40 feet or worse.
