Trail Ridge Road reopened briefly before closing again at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and will remained closed for the weekend. The route through Rocky Mountain National Parks is closed at Rainbow Curve on the east side and Colorado River Trailhead on the west.

According to a release from Rocky Mountain National Park, the closure is due to the forecasted freezing temperatures, winds and precipitation above 10,000 feet. The conditions on Trail Ridge Road will continue to be evaluated daily.

Park snowplow operators have been clearing drifts of more than 3 feet of snow this week on high elevation sections of Trail Ridge Road from the storm on Oct. 10, the release said.
