Updated: Trough Road reopens after crews remove vehicle involved in fatal slide off
Update 3:15 p.m.: Trough Road has been reopened, according to the Grand County Sheriff’s Office.
Original story: Grand County Road 1, also known as Trough Road, will be closed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday as county and state officials work to remove a vehicle that slid off the edge of the road earlier this year resulting in the deaths of Kremmling man Toby Hargadine and Crysta Berntsen of Minturn.
Grand County has plans to install roughly 730 feet of additional guardrails on Trough Road at the location where Hargadine and Berntsen slid off the road, as well as in the general vicinity. County officials hope to have the new guardrails installed by Oct. 1.
