Winter Park Christian Church and School undergoes large expansion
Special to Sky-Hi News
Many of you have noticed a building project off Highway 40 near Tabernash. Winter Park Christian Church and School is excited to announce that we are in the completion phase of our new expanded facilities. With the growth of the school, we have been running out of space and classroom options.
A year ago, a professional engineer, Mark Line, presented us with some building options that would expand our operations and give us the much-needed space for both school and ministry opportunities. Mark then became our project manager. This new facility will be used to house Winter Park Christian School as well as host many other Christian ministry activities such as Vacation Bible School, various Bible studies and small groups, Christian conferences, etc.
We are blessed and thankful for the new facility. Some of the features include:
• 17,500 square feet with two floors and over twenty-two rooms
• An art room and fully-equipped science lab
• State of the art technology provided by grant through Mountain Parks Electric and Grand Foundation
• Additional parking, office space, and administrative rooms
• Bathrooms on both floors
• Spacious hallways and rooms for a growing enrollment in the school
• A high-tech security system by director of security, Mike Long
What many of you may not know is that we have had an outpouring of community support in the building of the facility. We have had over 13,000 hours of volunteer service since the beginning phases of construction. In just over a year from breaking ground, we will have our first open house to celebrate the near completion of this project. From the church congregation, to local businesses, to families on vacation, many different people have been a part of this amazing project. We have been blessed by the many volunteers.
Equally remarkable is that this facility has been constructed debt free. As we would use the money provided for each phase, God would continue to provide the funding for the next phase. The outpouring of finances to complete this project has been stunning.
You are invited to join us for the first Open House on Thursday, April 5 at 5 p.m. The teachers and staff will be on-site, curriculum will be displayed, and you will get a chance to tour the new educational facility. The second open house will be super exciting! Join us on Wednesday, May 2, for a light supper prepared by our Spanish ministry and two of our Life Groups. We have staff on hand to give you a tour of the building that will be almost finished. WPCS will also have their curriculum on display and teachers available for questions. Open registration will be available at both Open House events.
