Winter Park’s Jarzynka named mechanic of the year
WINTER PARK – Winter Park Resort mechanic Justin Jarzynka has been named Mechanic of the Year by the Ski Area Vehicle Maintenance Institute at its annual Conference and Trade Show held this week in Grand Junction, Colorado. In addition to Jarzynka, the entire Winter Park mechanic shop was singled out by the Institute for its annual Safety Award, acknowledging the overall commitment to safety by each of the resort’s mechanics while keeping Winter Park’s vehicles in pristine shape throughout the difficult winters.
Jarzynka, a native of Nebraska, is celebrating his 10th season with Winter Park after joining the resort in 2003. In that decade, he has distinguished himself with his knowledge as well as his positive attitude while working on Winter Park’s fleet of snowcats, a crucial job that helps ultimately keep the resort’s terrain in great shape for visitors. Jarzynka beat out finalists from six other ski resorts to claim the honor.
In addition to the individual accolade, all of Winter Park’s mechanics were collectively honored with the SAVMI Safety Award. Demonstrating their commitment to safety, Jarzynka, Dave Hagerman, Paul Hagerman, Erik Potter, Clark Follmer, Chris Pissano, Cory Griess, Ed Devlin, and Summer Harrison have now gone 11 straight years without a reported accident and have not lost one day due to injury caused by an accident at the workplace.
