Letter to the editor: Former landowners thank first responders from Windy Gap Fire

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all the brave and courageous first responders that put out the Windy Gap fire. Thank you to the Grand County Sheriff’s Department, the Grand Fire Protection District 1, all the other fire districts that were involved and Mountain Parks Electric.
Their professional and unrelenting efforts saved our family cabin from burning when everything else was consumed by fire. The fire was so hot even some aluminum ramps by one of the buildings melted. Obviously, this was a dangerous situation, but was handled with great resolve by all involved. We are very grateful and appreciative of everyone’s efforts.
