Letter to the editor: No Kings rally was a positive experience for all

Yesterday, we attended the No Kings In America rally in Denver. My wife Margie and I were among 20,000 or more at the Colorado Capital, and estimated 7 million at the other 2,600 rallies throughout the nation.

We stood with others who were 80 and 90ish, with families, LGBTQ, Indigenous Americans with roots going back centuries, and Latinos who’ve lived in Colorado for five-plus generations. It was a pro-American and pro-Democracy — diverse, inclusive and with respect for the equality of all.

Not one arrest was made at the rally. There were an estimated 200,000 people in Washington D.C., 200,000 in Chicago and 100,000 in New York City with no arrests reported at these rallies either.

Our cause and our voices were heard around the world, joining those in Rome, Berlin, Madrid, Milan, Barcelona, Stockholm, Zurich and other global cities. In just four months, the number of rally demonstrators has increased at least 40% from the national rallies in June.

The voice of the majority is growing, as more feel the support of their neighbors and witness the erosion of what this country was built on: equal justice, equal opportunity, welcoming diverse cultures and the right to free speech.

We felt proud, inspired and uplifted by the patriotism and unity displayed. If you also joined a rally, thank you. Anyone who has not, join your neighbors. We the People, not a King, rule this Republic.
