The government agencies of our country are the hidden heroes of our democracy. While not perfect, they have been developed over a 75-year period, through a combined effort of both parties to keep the American people safe and healthy.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Health and Human Services (HHS) represent years of keeping “We the People” safe. They are always there when — God forbid — emergencies and catastrophes happen. When did that stop?

My heart goes out to the people and families hurt by the July floods in Kerr County, Texas, and all other communities that have experienced undue hardship in our nation this year. Once again, “We the People” will stand by you to support your recovery and health.
