Emily Gutierrez

Emily Gutierrez is a reporter for Sky-Hi News covering crime and education. She joined the team in August 2023.

Emily is a Colorado native, born in Greeley and raised in Milliken. Her parents immigrated from Chihuahua, Mexico.

She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and media studies and international affairs with a concentration in Latin American politics.

During her time as a bear Emily was the treasurer for The Mirror, the student newspaper. She was also a reporter for Bear News, the student broadcast club.

Emily loves writing as well as meeting new people. She says that journalism is the best of both words.

“I get to talk to interesting people doing interesting things every day, I love it,” Emily said.

During college, Emily worked as a soccer referee and coach on weekends and in kitchens during weeknights.

She loves a good documentary or a new album. Cleaning dishes in kitchens gave her time to listen to hundreds of albums.

As a new resident of Granby, she’s excited to see all it has to offer. Stay tuned to discover how Emily’s first Granby winter goes.
