Steven Josephson is currently serving as the interim editor of the Sky-Hi News, as well as the assistant editor for the Summit Daily News. Steven came to the Summit Daily in September 2019 from Gatehouse Media where he served as a page designer for newspapers across the country. Prior to that, he worked as a copy editor and page designer for a group of newspapers in the Detroit metro area — which included The Oakland Press and Macomb Daily — where he was primarily responsible for designing special sections and supplementing local in-depth reporting with graphics and illustrations. In 2019, he won a first place award from the Detroit chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists for his illustration showing how potholes form.
Before working in news, Steven worked two and a half years as a teacher in Detroit Public Schools, teaching elementary science and art. He also worked as an Americorps member with a nonprofit organization that focused on teaching environmental stewardship and developing hands-on service learning projects with school-aged children in the city.
When he’s not working, Steven can be found cooking, gardening, reading comics or napping at home with his wife, daughters and coonhound, or else tromping through the wilderness.
