On Friday, May 23, Louis Armstrong appeared virtually in court in front of Moffat County Judge James Hesson for the first time since being arrested on Wednesday, May 21.

Bond was set during the court appearance as a $50,000 cash surety bond.

A protection order for the victim was issued.

Imprisoned cleaner allegedly escaped through rear door

The arrest warrant includes information obtained from an interview with the victim. The victim stated that they were working for Armstrong and had been cleaning his trailer for the past week. During the interview, the victim stated that they had been admitted twice to Middle Park Medical Center as a result of being drugged or sexually assaulted by Armstrong.

After returning to the trailer from the Middle Park Medical Center, the victim stated that Armstrong controlled their every move and would not let them leave. When asked by a detective if they felt “free to leave Armstrong’s trailer,” the victim said no. The warrant states that the victim said they did not feel free to leave the trailer and feared that Armstrong would hurt or kill them if they tried to leave.

The warrant also states that Armstrong had secured the front door by screwing the door shut from within. The victim reportedly escaped through the rear door of the trailer.

Armstrong’s next court appearance for this case is Tuesday, May 27.
