Crews contain small fire in Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park fire crews responded to a small fire on the east side of the park on the afternoon of Sunday, Aug. 17. The fire was located in the Lumpy Ridge area near Estes Park.

By 5 p.m., crews had made containment line around the fire, which was under half an acre, according to a news release from the park. At this time, crews conducted mop-up operations, including extinguishing any remaining heat or burning material near the fire perimeter. 

According to the park, the fire was caused by lightning.
