Many internet users in the Kremmling area found their service was no longer working on Thursday, May 1 around 5:30 p.m.

Kremmling-area clients of Xfinity/Comcast, Lumen/CenturyLink and Edge Internet Services were impacted.

Comcast’s senior director for external communications Leslie Oliver said that Xfinity service was restored around 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 3. Lumen Lead Communications Manager Becky McKelvey said that CenturyLink service was restored at around 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The current estimate for the number of Xfinity customers who were impacted is around 400 residences and businesses.

The outage was caused by third-party construction that damaged internet infrastructure, according to Oliver. While doing construction work near Silverthorne in Summit County, workers hit a Lumen/CenturyLink line.

Deborah Snyder with the Silverthorne public works department said that the repairs needed were significant. This caused an internet outage for customers in Summit County, but also impacted residents in Kremmling.

Originally, the outage was expected to last until Monday, May 5.

Xfinity employees worked with connectivity partners and local authorities to complete the repairs.

“We know any time without service is frustrating and apologize for the inconvenience to our customers,” Oliver said.
