Deputy dampens parade enthusiasm

What a wonderful Buffalo BBQ celebration! Good clean fun was had by kids 8-80 in the wet zone. Parade participants had the left turn option to avoid the water and several did. Those who enjoy the water games came through with plenty of their own ammo. Nice job Grand Lake Plumbing, you have raised the bar!

Even Brett Schroetlin, Grand County Sheriff candidate, got baptized! He looked like he was having a blast as we all were. Perfect until a deputy marched into the middle of the wet zone loudly announcing that “the next person who throws a water balloon is going to jail in handcuffs.” A little boy of about 10 who had been enthusiastically enjoying our coolers full of water balloons asked me “why is that cop being such a jerk?”

Why indeed, I didn’t have an answer for him. What I did have was plenty of water balloon for he and his friends to enjoy on a hot summer afternoon!
