Fraser Medical Clinic closes practice due to financial hardships

Fraser Medical Clinic informed its patients that it would be closing its practice May 24 in an email sent out to patients.

“We are honored to have served as your physicians over the last 16 years,” the email stated.

The clinic cited various factors for the closure including an escalating overhead, increased administrative burdens and “disastrous” relationships with insurance providers. All of these factors combined made the independent medical clinic “financially unstable.”

The email also states that it has been unsuccessful in partnering with a local or regional health care system to preserve the clinic.

The Fraser Medical Clinic is the private practice of board-certified physicians: Dr. Astrid Lampey, Dr. Patrick Barry and partner Dr. Anna Johanson.

The clinic was founded by Lampey and Barry in 2008. Both doctors have many years of experience providing care to residents and visitors in Colorado mountain communities. Johanson also practiced medicine at the clinic.

The clinic provided care in pediatrics, adult internal medicine, newborn care, gynecology and women’s health, general dermatology and non-surgical orthopedics.
