Directors Tanny and Kimberlee Nanda present “The Jungle Book” as Middle Park High School’s spring play. Shows featuring MPHS drama students open Thursday and run though Saturday.

“The jungle is jumpin’ with jazz in this exciting Disney classic,” Kimberlee said. Audiences join Mowgli (Randi Stradberg) as he encounters lovable characters like Baloo (Zack Thorp) and King Louie (Rory Mulligan). He and the variety of jungle animals “swing their way through madcap adventures and thwart the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan (played by Tyler Orr).”

Other not-to-miss performances are by Shelby Mitchell (Kaa the snake), Caitlin Taylor (Shanti), Eldon Oswald (Bagheera), Hannah Heckerson (lead hyena), and Sheila Orr, Ashley North and Nick O’Connor (as Winifred, Hathi Jr. and Hathi, the elephants). Those who make up the chorus include: Noah Ralph, Heidi Gunther, Ron Hartley, Alanah Rempel, Elissa Glavin, Ariana Fisher, and Susanna Mikol.

The play is an adaptation the “beloved” Disney film, and includes favorite tunes like “The Bare Necessities,” and “I Wan’na Be Like You.”

“With colorful characters and that toe-tapping jungle rhythm,” Kimberlee said the play “is sure to be a crowd pleaser for audiences of all ages.”
