The Grand County Historical Association is inviting the community to dust off their cowboy boots and join them at the Headwaters Event Center in Winter Park on Aug. 22 from 6-10 p.m. for the annual Hoedown for History fundraiser. This fundraiser raises nearly one-third of the organization’s annual budget, the news release writes.

The money raised from this event goes towards programming, museum operations and historic preservation efforts across the county.

At the center of this year’s fundraising efforts is the Kremmling Depot restoration project. Now housed near the Heritage Park Museum, the depot was built in the early 20th century and is the last surviving station built along the Moffat Road. The building plays a crucial role in helping tell the story of Grand County’s economic and social development through time.

Currently, the historical association is working towards turning the Kremmling Depot into a functional asset for Kremmling. However, restoring the depot to its original 1960s design, adding new exhibits and creating a new community gathering space is estimated to cost $1.5 million.

The association was able to secure grant funding for the project’s first step of laying a new foundation, but is now asking for community support to push the project forward. A news release states that “every ticket sold and every dollar raised” will bring them closer to restoring the historic landmark.

This year’s hoedown will feature a barbecue dinner catered by Bold BBQ and an open bar with products from Big Trout Brewing and Fraser Valley Distilling. A live auction will take place featuring unique experiences and one-of-a-kind artwork.

Colorado country rockers Narrow Gauge will be playing country music throughout the night and Dinah Brown will lead line dancing.

Tickets are on sale online through Aug. 3 at GrandCountyHistory.org/product/hoedown-for-history-tickets-2025/. Grand County Historical Association members get a discount on tickets at $75, while non-members pay the full ticket price of $85. There are also tables available for reservation at a rate of $600. To reserve a table, reach out to the association through email at samantha@grandcountyhistory.org.
