Grand County Sheriff’s Office warns of ongoing fraud scams
The Grand County Sheriff’s Office states it has received multiple reports from residents who are receiving fraudulent calls and voicemails from individuals portraying to be from the sheriff’s office.
In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s office wrote that the fraudulent callers are using the names of legitimate deputies.
“If you are the victim of a fraud attempt, please do not provide any personal information, and contact local law enforcement immediately,” the agency wrote.
Law enforcement agencies will never contact residents via phone or any other electronic communication means to ask for a financial payment, the sheriff’s office explained.
If you receive a call that you suspect is fraudulent, call the non-emergency dispatch line at 970-725-3311.
