Alterra Mountain Co., which operates Winter Park Resort, has announced that 15 of its resorts across North America will be taking part in a “kids ski free week” from Dec. 7-13.

During the week, kids 12 and younger can get up to seven free lift tickets.

At Winter Park Resort, children can receive same-day lift tickets at the Balcony House ticket window during regular operating hours. The free lift tickets can also be purchased in advance at Shop.WinterParkResort.com. Lessons and rentals are not included in the promotion.

Jared Smith, president and CEO of Alterra Mountain Co., said he hopes the free ski week begins a love of skiing and snowboarding in participating young kids.

“Winter is here, and we want to help families get on the mountain this season,” Smith was quoted as saying in a news release about the promotion. “We hope ‘kids ski free week’ ignites an excitement around skiing and snowboarding and helps start a lifelong passion the entire family can enjoy for years to come.”

In addition to Winter Park Resort, Colorado’s Steamboat Ski Resort is participating. The program also includes four resorts in California, two each in Vermont and Utah, and one each in West Virginia, Washington and Idaho. Two Canadian resorts are also included.
