Middle Park High School has announced Sam Campfield as the new head football coach following the departure of Ryan Ledford after an undermanned 1-8 season in 204. Campfield brings over 10 years of high school coaching experience to Middle Park.
Scotty Hicks, the athletic director for the East Grand School District, said that the school is excited to welcome Campfield to Middle Park’s football program.
“His proven leadership, dedication to student success both on and off the field and his vision for our football program impressed us deeply. We believe he will be instrumental in navigating our rebuild back to varsity status in the years to come,” Hicks said.
Due to concerns about roster sizes and player safety, Middle Park will not have a varsity football program next season.
Middle Park High School Principal Cindy Rimmer called the announcement “great news.”
“Our students and program are fortunate to have Mr. Campfield lead the program into the future,” Rimmer said.
Campfield has a strong track record of running successful programs, emphasizing teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship, according to Hicks. His coaching philosophy centers on developing well-rounded individuals who excel not only in football but also as students and community members.
Campfield said that he was “honored and excited” to be selected as Middle Park’s head football coach.
“Can’t wait to get rolling,” Campfield said.
In addition to coaching, Campfield will be teaching general physical education and strength classes at Middle Park.
A spring meeting will be held for athletes and parents to welcome the new head coach. Meeting details will be announced on the school’s website and official social media channels.
