State wrestling: Middle Park’s Jacob Barr earns trip to Pepsi Center

Sky-Hi News staff report

Middle Park freshman Jacob Barr has qualified for the Class 3A state wrestling tournament in Denver after placing fourth at the regional contest this weekend in Broomfield.

Coming into the year, coach Brian Stuart knew Barr was going to be strong, as Barr has a significant amount of experience wrestling even though he’s just a freshman.

He certainly proved his coach right by making state.

Other notable performances from Middle Park’s wrestlers at regionals include 106-pounder Tucker Minear and 182-pounder Kaleb Brumley, who both placed sixth in their respective weight classes.

Also, Champ Stuart, who’s been strong throughout the year, was fifth in the 170 pound weight class while Middle Park’s 113-pounder Dustin Neal-Murphy came out of regionals in seventh.

The state wrestling tournament will be Thursday through Saturday at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
