Mountain Parks Electric’s scholarship program is accepting applications until March 8 and students can apply for one of three categories depending on their future goals.
Individual scholarship amounts range from a minimum of $2,500 up to $10,000. All recipients are determined by the Mountain Parks scholarship committee. The committee selects awardees based on how compelling or impactful each applicant’s essay is, along with academic performance, community involvement and work experience.
These recommendations for awards are then sent to the Mountain Parks Electric Board of Directors who have the final authority in regards to awarding scholarships. Every scholarship accepts traditional and non-traditional students.
There is a standard scholarship for college-bound students titled the academic scholarship and the total annual fund available is $75,000.
There is also a trade school scholarship application where students can receive scholarships from an annual pool of $25,000. This category of scholarships is available for any student seeking education or certification in various trade programs.
An electric-industry specific scholarship is available for students seeking a career in the electric industry, including linemen, engineer, staker, GIS, electrician, accountant and more. The annual pool for this scholarship is $25,000.
All applications are also available in Spanish.
