No charges have been filed in two deadly car crashes near Kremmling

Five members of a family from Kremmling died in a car crash on Colorado Highway 9 on Aug. 4, 2025, between Kremmling and the border of Summit county.

In early August, two deadly head-on car crashes shocked the Grand County community. According to Colorado State Patrol, no charges have been filed in either of the two crashes, which both occurred near the town of Kremmling. Both investigations are still ongoing through Colorado State Patrol.

State patrol Sergeant Ivan Alvarado told Sky-Hi News that investigations of deadly crashes take months or sometimes over a year to be resolved. These investigations, depending on the circumstances, can be treated as murder investigations.

There is no update on the conditions of the individuals who were hospitalized after the crashes, although no additional fatalities have been announced since the initial report.



Crash kills five residents of Kremmling on U.S. Highway 9

The first crash occurred on Aug. 4 on Colorado Highway 9 south of the town of Kremmling. Five members of a Kremmling family were pronounced deceased at the scene: parents Manuel Cabral-Torres and Andrea Banuelos-Salazar, with their young children Maria Cabral-Banuelos, Manuel Cabral-Banuelos and Andres Cabral-Banuelos.

The initial investigation of the crash found that a 25-year-old man from Parker driving a Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on Highway 9 when he drove into the southbound lane, striking the Cabral-Banuelos’ vehicle.



At the time, the Parker man was transported to the hospital via a helicopter with life-threatening injuries.

One dead in U.S. Highway 40 collision

The second crash occurred on Aug. 7 on U.S. Highway 40 west of the town of Kremmling. One person was pronounced deceased at the scene, identified as Danielle Cisneros of Arvada.

The crash occurred when a Subaru Crosstrek crossed the center line and collided head-on with Cisneros’ vehicle, which she was driving with two young passengers. These two children were flown by helicopter to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.

The driver of the Crosstrek, a 55-year-old woman, was also flown to a hospital for injuries. According to state patrol, she had an Australian passport.

According to data compiled by Colorado State Patrol, at least nine crashes in 2025 have involved injury in Grand County; four of these resulted in fatality. By this time in 2024, there had been seven total crashes with injuries, and no reported fatalities.
