Grand Avenue in Grand Lake was the setting for Sunday’s 79th annual Buffalo Days parade. It honored Barky Lewis, who has worked for the town for 30 years, and who led the parade with his wife, Kathy, as grand marshal.

Families lined both sides of the street waiting for the horses, floats and fire trucks. People cheered and hooted as the marchers went by.

Grand Lake Plumbing and Heating had the most creative float: a covered wagon in a clawfoot tub pulled by a team of porcelain ponies.

The royalty from the Middle Park Fair and Rodeo were there and riding in style. Clowns with the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater dressed as pigs on roller skates and skateboards, zooming down both sides of the street and high-fiving folks of all ages.

The Grand County Library District and the Grand Lake Creative District showed up with dinosaurs, lots of candy and lots of fun. And of course, “Rich the Buffaloon,” the huge blow-up buffalo, accompanied by Grand Lake Town Manager Steve Kudron, showered parade watchers with candy.
