The heavy smoke from several fires in Rio Blanco and Garfield counties has drifted through Grand County over the past week. Sky-Hi News readers captured photos of the sun turned bright red from the smoky conditions.

While beautiful, the red sun signifies that air quality is poor, due to smoke and ash.

According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, if smoke is thick in your neighborhood, you may want to remain indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease, respiratory illnesses, the very young, and older adults. Consider limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present.

Check current air quality reports throughout the state at Colorado.gov/airquality.
