Red Dirt Hill paving work moves north this week

The Colorado Department of Transportation’s safety improvements for Red Dirt Hill on U.S. Highway 40 will continue for the week of Sept. 8-12.

According to CDOT, crews are conducting asphalt paving on the two-mile stretch of highway between Cottonwood Pass Road and County Road 53, Mile Points 217-219, between Granby and Tabernash. Work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Paving will now be on the eastbound side of U.S. 40. Two-way traffic with one lane open in each direction will will be maintained during the paving, and motorists should plan for at least 20-minute delays. Traffic will be reduced to 45 mph through the work zone, but may be reduced to 40 mph if flaggers are present.
