Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre has announced its nomination for a record number of Henry Awards, as presented by the Colorado Theatre Guild.

The theater in Grand Lake is up for 23 nominations for its 2024 season. This includes four musicals: “Kinky Boots,” “The Music Man,” “Come from Away,” and “I Left My Heart.”

“This significant recognition highlights Rocky Mountain Rep’s commitment to excellence in the performing arts and showcases the outstanding talent and creativity of its artists and productions,” the theater company announced in a news release.

Among the nominees, Rocky Mountain Rep stands out by receiving the second-largest number of nominations in Colorado, after the prestigious Denver Center for Performing Arts.

“This achievement underscores Rocky Mountain Rep’s dedication to delivering high-quality theatrical experiences that resonate with audiences and critics alike,” the theater stated.

The awards ceremony will take place on July 28 at Lone Tree Arts Center in Lone Tree. Rocky Mountain Rep invites the community to join this entertaining event, where the winners will be announced in a celebration of live theater.

“The Henry Awards are designed to celebrate the talent, wonder and incredible Colorado Theatre community,” stated Betty Hart, Colorado Theatre Guild Board President and Henry Awards committee chair, in the release. “This was a banner year for Colorado theatre excellence.”

Hart added that the nominations “reflect a taste of the incredible offerings audiences experienced” from summer 2024 through mid-May.

This is the 19th annual year of the Henry Awards, which “celebrate the best in Colorado’s professional theatre community, honoring exceptional performances, innovative direction and outstanding technical achievements,” the release stated.

Rocky’s nominations span various categories, including Best Musical nominations for “Come From Away” and “The Music Man.”

“We are incredibly proud of our talented cast, crew and creative team,” said Michael Querio, Executive Artistic Director of Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre. “These nominations are a testament to our hard work and dedication to the craft. We are grateful to the Colorado Theatre Guild for this recognition and to our audiences for their continued support.”
