Seussical the Musical plays in Grand Lake this weekend

The Seussical the Musical cast and crew performs Nov. 13-15 in Grand Lake.

Upcoming performances of Seussical the Musical are set to play at the Grand Lake Community House this weekend, according to a press release from the Upstage Youth Theatre.

Opening night was Thursday, Nov. 13. Performances continue at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 15 at the community house. Tickets are available for purchase at the door and are $10 for adults, $5 for youth and free for senior community members.

“The show opened to a packed house and rave reviews ,” director Christal McDougall said. ” … There are only two performances remaining.”



Students are also holding a food drive to support Grand County families with limited access to food assistance. Any donated shelf-stable food will be donated to Mountain Family Center.

The show is based on Dr. Seuss’s stories, telling the story of Horton and Gertrude, who band together to save the Whos and restore peace in the jungle.



The cast is led by high school seniors Toby DeLoach, AJ Feacher, Kari Hanson, Reese Kervin, Vallie Mace and Jax Redmond with juniors Maija Relyea, Collin Huntington and freshman Kate Huber.

The rest of the cast includes juniors Zanna Berman, Lewis Forquer, Bea Hanson and Morgan Huntington; sophomores Elena Binkley, Maisy Martin, Iliayah Redmond, Bel Smith and Freddie Stokeld; freshman Alex Kervin; 8th grader Sahyera Redmond; and 7th grader Aalyxis Redmond.

Professional actors Brooklynn Stanley and Megan Opalinski worked with the cast; Stanley as choreographer and Opalinski as a vocal coach.

The production crew is led by seniors Calleigh Bobo, Vyla Clark, Walker Peterson, Baleigh Smith and Colvin Villup; juniors Forrest Cramer and Roman Warner; sophomores Shaila Sandholm and Addy Shippey; and freshman Saphy Wiley.

The Upstage Youth Theatre program theatre experiences for students in grades 5–12 in addition to fostering leadership and collaboration skills.
