The Middle Park High School boys lacrosse team capped its 2026 regular season with a familiar result: a Metro League championship.
For the second consecutive year, the Panthers finished atop the Colorado 4A Metro League standings, going 6-0 in league play and 10-4 overall to secure back-to-back titles in 2025 and 2026.
After opening the season with three straight losses against a slate of tough non-league opponents, Middle Park found its footing in April and never looked back. The Panthers rattled off a string of decisive wins including a 21-2 victory over Littleton, an 11-5 win at Thomas Jefferson and a 13-5 result against The Vanguard School.
The team also showed its ability to grind out close games, edging Conifer 10-9 on the road in one of the season’s most competitive matchups. Their only other loss came on April 18 to Heritage.
Middle Park’s success was fueled by a balanced attack and steady defensive play, finishing the regular season with 129 goals scored and 110 allowed. The Panthers closed the year on a five-game winning streak, carrying momentum into the postseason.
Leadership played a central role in the team’s consistency. The roster featured 12 seniors whose experience helped guide the Panthers through early-season adversity and into another league title run.
Under head coach John Vella, Middle Park has continued to build a program defined by discipline, teamwork and steady improvement — traits that have now produced consecutive league championships.
With the regular season complete, the Panthers turn their attention to the postseason, aiming to build on a year that has already cemented their place among the top teams in Class 4A.
A first-round matchup between No. 16 seed Middle Park and No. 17 seed Green Mountain is scheduled for tomorrow at 6 p.m. The winner will take on No. 1 seed Air Academy on Friday, May 8.
