Trail Ridge Road closed due to wintery weather

As of Sunday morning, Oct. 12, Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park remains temporarily closed to through travel. The road closed on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 5 p.m. due to snow and freezing temperatures. There’s currently no estimated time of reopening.
Trail Ridge Road connects Grand Lake with Estes Park through Rocky Mountain National Park. At its highest, the road reaches 12,183 feet. Weather can be unpredictable at that elevation in the fall months, and the road typically closes for the season in mid-to-late October.
