Trail Ridge Road reopens following first temporary closure of the season
Trail Ridge Road temporarily closed on Sunday, Sept. 14, due to snow and ice on the road. The closure was instituted at approximately 9:20 a.m. and lifted at approximately 3:30 p.m. that afternoon.
Trail Ridge Road connects Grand Lake with Estes Park through Rocky Mountain National Park. At its highest, the road reaches 12,183 feet. Weather can be unpredictable at that elevation in the fall months, and the road typically closes for the season in mid-to-late October.
