On Monday afternoon, Oct. 6, those with Verizon services experienced a service disruption that lasted until approximately Tuesday evening, when service was restored. The disruption affected the majority of Grand County.

According to a representative of Verizon, the outage was caused by a cut fiber optic cable.

“If these cables are cut, it can impact service for some customers,” stated Liz Gelardi, senior communications manager of the company. “Since Verizon does not own the fiber in this area of Grand County, the timeline for restoring service depends on how quickly the third-party vendor can complete repairs to the fiber optic cable.”

Verizon customers throughout Grand County experienced an outage from Oct. 6-7.
