West Grand interns learn nursing field with Middle Park Health
West Grand School District has announced its Interns of the Month for December: senior Callie Freitag, junior Matti Hayes and junior Karla Gonzalez.
The three students are completing nursing internships with Middle Park Health and shared the benefits of learning about the nursing field.
- Freitag: “As I will be attending college to become a registered nurse, this internship gives me my first step-in-the-door look into what department and what kind of environment I want to work in.”
- Hayes: “This internship has inspired many of my future goals and aspirations. I see the way in which my supervisors have a passion for their patients, and this makes me want to make a difference for people in the future.”
- Gonzalez: “I want to become a nurse, and being able to observe nurses on the job helps me understand how much they really do. I have also seen and determined which departments I would be a better fit for, which will help me succeed more quickly.”
Andrew Mericle, the West Grand college and career coordinator, said district staff members are thankful for their partnership with the local hospital system.
The Intern of the Month program is part of Career Connected Learning, a collaboration between East Grand, West Grand and Clear Creek school districts.
