Winter Park Town Council holds 1st meeting of 2025
For the Sky-Hi News
Winter Park Town Council convened Tuesday, Jan. 7, for its first meeting of the new year. Agenda items included renewing contracts with several town partners, accepting grants for two new electric buses for the Winter Park bus fleet and approval of the meeting schedule for 2025.
The schedule will be the same as it was in 2024, with meetings to be held at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of every month.
Among contract renewals, the council plans to renew with Aponte and Busam, a government consulting firm the town began working with in 2024. Ruth Aponte, a founding member of the firm, gave an overview of the upcoming Colorado state legislative session, highlighting the governor’s priorities, the growing state budget deficit and the Democratic trifecta in the state legislature entering the 2025 session, with the party controlling the governor’s mansion and both chambers.
The Town Council also renewed contracts with Slate Communications and the Winter Park and Fraser Chamber of Commerce, and approved a new contract with Kimley-Horn, an engineering and design firm, to perform engineering services for Winter Park.
