Martha Sortland has accepted the new position of Strategic Brand Manager at YMCA of the Rockies’ Snow Mountain Ranch.

Sortland, who previously worked as the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications for the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, recently relocated to Grand County.

The purpose of her position is to focus more attention on the “family experience” at Snow Mountain Ranch. Though the establishments in both Estes Park and Grand County are affiliated, over the years they have each come to offer a variety of different options.

“We want to be a resource for the community, and support the community any way we can with our programs,” said Sortland. “We want to make sure the community knows what we have, and how they can use it.”

Snow Mountain Ranch sponsors programs and lodging options not available in Estes Park, including the yurt village, Hopi Campground, as well as year-round horseback riding and a renowned Nordic Center.

Sortland’s job will be to promote these offerings, as well as Snow Mountain Ranch’s community initiatives, membership and programming.

“Martha’s transition to the Snow Mountain Ranch Strategic Brand Manager role is one of the many steps that the YMCA of the Rockies has taken to provide Snow Mountain with high level staff,” said YMCA of the Rockies President and CEO Kent Meyer.

“We are committed to the future of Snow Mountain Ranch, to the families that we serve and to our nonprofit partnerships including Grand County nonprofit Project Sanctuary.”

As for herself, Sortland is looking forward to the winter activities that the area has to offer, and Nordic skiing in particular.

“I’m very excited to be living in Grand County,” she said. “I want to get better at skiing, and just take advantage of all the great outdoor opportunities.”
