GRANBY — Middle Park High School fall athletes and band members joined Granby Elementary School students Tuesday, Sept. 22, for a Homecoming Week edition of High 5’s with GES.

The event, hosted monthly by the GES Parent Teacher Organization, aims to connect students with the broader community. To celebrate Homecoming Week, the Middle Park Panthers welcomed elementary students into the school with cheering, high fives and hype songs performed by the high school band.

The PTO organized the event to build excitement for Friday night’s homecoming game and to strengthen the bond between the elementary and high school student bodies.

The GES PTO credited Kayleen Malone, Scotty Hicks and Byron Church for coordinating the high school students’ participation in the morning event. Organizers expressed hope that the event encourages Granby Elementary students and their families to attend the upcoming Homecoming festivities and the football game on Friday.

• Monday, Sept. 22: Powderpuff football game at 7 p.m. on the football field (seniors/sophomores vs. juniors/freshmen).
• Tuesday, Sept. 23: Powderpuff practice and distribution of Ironman shirts at lunch.
• Wednesday, Sept. 24: Ironman volleyball game at 7 p.m. in the new gym.
• Thursday, Sept. 25: Pep rally at 11 a.m., followed by a whole-school BBQ lunch and “Taste of Hoco.”
• Friday, Sept. 26: Homecoming game at 6:30 p.m. featuring the boys varsity soccer team playing Jefferson High School; Royalty Ceremony held during halftime.
• Saturday, Sept. 27: Homecoming Dance with a “Starry Night” theme from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Mary Jane mountain base at Winter Park Resort.
