Photos: Constitution Week parade showcases patriotic Grand County
Crowds gathered for a parade in downtown Grand Lake to celebrate the eighth annual Grand Lake Constitution Week on Saturday.
The parade moved from Haskell Street to Hancock Street starting at 9:30 a.m. Families and friends gathered on the sunny morning while children collected candy in bags and baseball caps. Parade-goers collected Constitutions and waved to the floats going by.
The floats represented various communities from around Grand County, all dressed patriotically for the event.
Afterwards, crowds gathered downtown to enjoy barbecue, listen to music and hear keynote speaker Kevin Sorbo. Sorbo is an actor, producer and director who’s best known for “Hercules, the Legendary Journeys” and as a free speech activist.
Festivities continue throughout Saturday. Constitution Week will conclude with fireworks at 8:30 p.m. over Grand Lake.
