Grand County Sheriff Huck Henderson presented a plan to have Grand County provide additional law enforcement services for the town of Grand Lake, during a trustees meeting. The town would pay the salary of one full-time officer ($670 a month) who would work with an officer provided by the town and would also provide and maintain at least one police vehicle. The county would pay for all fringe benefits for the officer and pay relief officers for the two full-timers, allow the town to use county detention and investigative services, and provide one additional law enforcement vehicle. The sheriff would also be appointed as the town’s acting chief of police. The terms were adopted for a trial period from Feb. 7 to April 15, 1976.

90 years ago: About 700 Denver students have ‘big frolic’ in Hot Sulphur Springs
A special train arrived from Denver around noon on Feb. 2, 1936, pulling 14 coaches full of 700 South Denver High School students and one baggage car piled full of skis, sleds and toboggans. The baggage car was unloaded shortly after the train had stopped and the students proceeded to make the day theirs not long after. Bungalow Hill saw the majority of the skiers, reportedly looking from a distance like a troop of ants preparing for winter. The skating rink was also well-populated, with bursts of laughter heard throughout the afternoon. The group headed home for Denver at 4:30 that afternoon.
