The Middle Park High School girls soccer team lost a hard-fought game, 3-2, in overtime to Denver Christian School on May 13. The result ends one of the program’s best seasons in recent history, as the Panthers finished the year 14-4 and made a bittersweet trip to the state quarterfinals after winning the Frontier League with an undefeated record.

The Panthers fell behind early, but a Meredith Davis goal in the 20th minute tied the game at 1-1. Denver Christian scored again and led 2-1 at halftime, athletic director Scotty Hicks said.

Sophomore Rilee Ludwig scored one minute into the second half to tie the game at 2-2. In overtime, Denver Christian sealed a 3-2 victory with a golden goal in the 92nd minute.

The Panthers’ offense this year was led by Ludwig, who had 34 goals. Davis, a sophomore, and senior Aylin Rios netted 20 and 13 goals, respectively. Rios had 21 assists, while junior Addison Ludwig had 17, according to Max Preps.
